www.dragon-antiques.com Japy Freres Gilt Cartel WallClock. ~ French – Circa 1870 ~ ~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~ A very decorative antique French Japy Freres cartel wall clock. It is beautifully modelled in metal which has been gilded with gold leaf to give an appearance similar to that of carved wood and gesso. The dial is enamel on copper lettered in blue with separate minute ring. It is complete with original finely fretted gilt brass hands. The back of the clock has an old repairers label. The French movement has the Japy Freres clockmakers mark on the movement backplate. It is of excellent quality as is to be expected of this maker. It has the superior pin-pallet escapement and rack striking. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running! Condition of the case is good, there is an old repair to the tip of one side of the case. The case has been gold leafed which has a nice antique finish and this has been touched in at some time. There is wear, chipping and discolouration – it has a mellow and shabby chic finish rather than the shine of a gilded brass case. The dial has some slight chipping around the Brocot shaft. Howard Miller 620-142 Wall Clock. I got for $20 at a store. Hermle 341-020. I tried to find some info on it but there is non anywhere found online. I know it have to be worth or when it was new it costs hunders of dollars. Anyone know more about the clock? or it’s value?

Europe Endless by Kraftwerk. Last year I went to a sign shop and had the Album cover enlarged and placed on a metal backing. A hole was drilled on the top left corner. I then took the piece to have it framed with imitation gold for the frame. I added the clock where the hole was drilled, (clock was purchased at Walmart’s Arts & Crafts deptartment). I included the lettering at the bottom of the picture which may not be too visible from the video. It reads: “Life Is Timeless” – Kraftwerk”. There is no doubt that the golden frame and brown with beige hues from the album art work definitely go together. Well enough to adorn your home. The whole project cost me 140 US Dollars. It will never be for sale. Of course, If I should decide to have another clock made, I would most likley sell it to the highest bidding Kraftwerk fan. Life is timeless indeed.
